Girl on the Rocks

formerly known as Knit This… Knitting, spinning, crafting - it’s all here.

I have finally created the perfect product to unite my love of the Fiber Arts and my fascination with disembodied moustaches. The ‘stache for your stash, or a ’stache sachet, if you will (the anagram was irresistible).

There are two versions available. The Stash ’stache is filled with the natural moth repellents cedar chips, and lavendar with added pennyroyal essential oil to protect your yarn and fiber from bugs. A variant on the original contains only lavender and can be used as a traditional sachet - perhaps finding a home in a drawer with your unmentionables.

Abby, Ingrid and I printed up the bags on my gocco. They have a ’stache on one side and “Girl on the Rocks” on the other.

Head over to my shop and pick one up!

Bizness November 30, 2007

Filed under: Crafty — karrie @ 1:47 pm

So my posts here have practically come to a standstill. I am busy at work and when I do have crafty time, it has been mostly spent generating moustaches. Why the sudden stockpiling of ’staches? Because I will be selling my wares at the San Francisco Bazaar Bizarre on December 15th.

SF Baz Biz Banner

Hooray! I am very excited about it. It has allowed me to fulfill a long-time (and now outdated) goal of owning a manual credit card processor. I like to call them ka-chunkers. I will probably be the only person there more excited about accepting credit cards instead of cash.

I am hopeful that I will get to meet a lot of crafters and possible SF-area blog readers. I bought a little book, and hope to have my readers/online friends sign it (idea totally stolen from jekbot - she was doing this at Felt Club). To entice you to introduce yourself, I am willing to bribe my readers with special moustache buttons… All you have to do is introduce yourself :) Also, if you want anything, i can bring it there for pick-up.

And as if selling stuff isn’t enough, I will doing a demo on Weavettes from 4:30-5. You can stop by and see why I think these little looms are so fun.

I have some new items that are pretty darn cute. If you don’t have the dough for them, you can now convince your paypal-saavy loved ones to buy you a gift certificate.

More alphabet stitch markers for knitting along with cat bordhi’s books. This set is for those that knit two socks at once!

And for the ’stache lovers I have the only ’stache for the holidays - Santa. Get the big man’s moustache on buttons, cards, or gift tags

I also have a batch of pocket mirrors with gocco printed storage bags. I am kinda hoarding these for the Bazaar, so if you want one, you might have to ask :)

Happy shopping! And more importantly, please say ‘Hi’ if you see me at the Bazaar. I promise I won’t make you buy anything.

It’s a Halloween miracle September 22, 2007

Filed under: Etsy Shopping — karrie @ 7:21 pm

For a limited time, my mild-mannered moustaches have been transformed into Halloween monstrosities.

The curly handlebar moustache sprouted fangs and took off looking for blood. The western ’stache is completely zombified and stumbles around in search of brains. Portions of a black and brown moustache have been cobbled together to make a Frankenstache (this one is by far my favorite).

I am so excited about these pins, I teamed up with my friend over at madeinatreehouse.etsy.com, and will be including one AWESOME tube of ‘Lip Balm for Zombies’ with your purchase (flavor will vary) for a limited time. The lip balm is delicious, by the way. I have a tube and I use it all the time.

Aren’t they cute? Hooray for Halloween!

Button-tastic shop update January 29, 2007

Filed under: Crafty — karrie @ 12:52 pm

This weekend I added some non-knitting goods to my etsy shop. I would like to increase the number of bacon-related items on etsy, and in the spitit of valentine’s day I made these

peppered bacon buttons and magnets

Because nothing says ‘i love you’ like peppered bacon! (more bacon items)

And as a continuation of my fascination with moustaches, I added some more moustache buttons and magnets

If you buy anything, let me know you read my blog and I will throw in some extra goodies for you!

Major shop update January 10, 2007

Filed under: Crafty — karrie @ 11:07 pm

I am in the middle of a major update to my etsy shop in preparation for my debut in the etsy showcase tomorrow. *edit: I am an idiot. My Showcase dates don’t start until Friday* If you would like to be informed of updates to my shop and be privy to special offers, sign up for my mailing list.

The big ticket item in my shop right now is my Atari 2600 themed altoid tin.

complete with silver beads for levers and wood grain interior

I am wickedly proud of it. The price is steep, but there was just too much hand stitching in there…. There is also a tin just for SF Bay area commuters.

The button-maker (named Stampy) was put to work making treats for knitters

and moustache lovers.

There is also some roving and yarn, but I have been having a heck of a time trying to get good photos of it. Here are just a few:

I don’t know if I will be able to let this one go

see anything you like? If you buy anything leave a comment saying you are one of my blog readers and I will throw in something special for you.
