Major shop update January 10, 2007

Filed under: Crafty — karrie @ 11:07 pm

I am in the middle of a major update to my etsy shop in preparation for my debut in the etsy showcase tomorrow. *edit: I am an idiot. My Showcase dates don’t start until Friday* If you would like to be informed of updates to my shop and be privy to special offers, sign up for my mailing list.

The big ticket item in my shop right now is my Atari 2600 themed altoid tin.

complete with silver beads for levers and wood grain interior

I am wickedly proud of it. The price is steep, but there was just too much hand stitching in there…. There is also a tin just for SF Bay area commuters.

The button-maker (named Stampy) was put to work making treats for knitters

and moustache lovers.

There is also some roving and yarn, but I have been having a heck of a time trying to get good photos of it. Here are just a few:

I don’t know if I will be able to let this one go

see anything you like? If you buy anything leave a comment saying you are one of my blog readers and I will throw in something special for you.

Altoid tins are the perfect home for everything. June 12, 2006

edit: If you are interested in purchasing a felt covered altoids tin, check my shop

Even though most of what goes on here is knitting (and occasionally spinning), I have an interest in all kinds of crafty things. i often sew specialized knitting needle cases for sock knitters, and zippered bags (sometimes embroidered). i enjoy sewing because if you have a design idea, it takes much less time to try out the finished product than with knitting. Lately I have also been making buttons and stitch markers.

Proabably my most favorite crafts that i have worked on lately are my felt-covered altoid tins. I just traced around the edges of the tin to make a template for myself and i cut out a background piece. then I sew on the cuteness. Some more stitching and some E6000 later, Viola!

Altered altoid tins

They are perfect for holding stitch markers and other knitting/sewing notions. And you don’t sound like a gypsy when you carry them around in you bag, because the felt lining keeps everything nice and quiet.

They are also the perfect size for a chapstick and maybe even a few bucks.

By far my favorite is the frozen dinner

but the cute little owl is a close second.

So I will say that the tv-dinner tin is my entry in the whiplash competition this month.

Here come the sweaters…. March 29, 2006

I used some
handpaintedyarn,com Ejido 160
to start an Incredible Custom Raglan . Unfortunately i followed the directions a little too closely, and made a snug measurement around my neck. Of course, this resulted in the neck hole being the exact size of my neck…. And smaller than my head. So I couldn’t get it on. I liked how it was progressing, though. to prevent weird color pooling, I was using two balls of yarn, and alternating them every two rows. It was looking good.

so i ripped it out and started over.

I also got my Knitpicks order that I have been waiting on for a long time…. Some merino style for Eunny’s Deep-V Argyle vest. I joined the Knit-along too.

in this project I will attempt two-handed fair-isle knitting, and finish it off with some steeks. i can’t wait.

And because I like looking at it,
I present my altoid-tin tv-dinner.

Drumsticks, Mashed potatoes, Cherry compote, and succotash.
