Celery, apples, onions, garlic, pomegranates, and
two things that i didn.t even know existed until i moved to california: a quince
and persimmons. every year i try to like persimmons because they are just so
cute.

I can tell that you are wondering, ‘karrie, what is
on your hand in that picture?’ Why, it is my first-ever mitten. I knit this
from the “warmest mitten” pattern in Knitting Pretty . I actually got this
pattern for free from the publisher on a webpage that I can no longer
find.

It is made out of a wool yarn called “tweed.” It is
very soft, but i cannot figure out exactly what it is made of because the band
is not in english. it is mainly Schurwulle (if anyone can tell me what that is,
that would be great). I got a little bored knitting the upper part of the
mitten, but changing colors kept me totally interested. I will definitely have
to apply this strategy of striping-to-maintain-interest if i ever start a
sweater. This mitten is destined to become a Christmas
gift.
