More knitting for the kitties April 26, 2004
forgot to take a picture, so that will have to
wait.
Meanwhile, i did a little
work on a square for my critter knitters blanket. i recently ordered Barbara
Walker’s

Treasury of Knitting Patterns from ebay, and got it for a pretty good
price. I was delighted to find out that i could get the

book in the series from the same seller for just a few dollars more.
so i did it, and now i have both of them (in paperback). i was excited to try a
pattern from one of these books, and i chose the “fretwork pattern” in the first
book. i didn’t quite finish the square, but here is what i finished so
far

going to fix them since this is just for practice anyway. If I was keeping this
and had to look at it, or was giving it to a human instead if a homeless kitty,
then i would definitely fix it. The first problem is that instead of casting on
a multiple of 10 stitches +2 i cast on a multiple of 12 stitches. I realized
that after the third row (which was still just white) but i didnt want to fix
it. this problem is what creates the weird striping at the edges which makes
the pattern look mucked up. and then there is the place where i actually
screwed up the pattern and didn’t notice until 2 rows later… that is where
the 2 out of the 3 green swirls are screwed up and kinda look like letter G’s.
It is good practice though and i am going to finish the square as it
is.
