Now this is yarn…

I did some spinning last night and generated
something that can certainly be categorized as
yarn.

i plied together some plain white stuff
(blue faced leicester?) and one of claudia’s pre-dyed merino/mohar blends. i am
knitting it up into a scarf, but unfortunately i think it is is kinda ugly. it
is really dominated by the white and despite it’s awesome softness it looks like
really cheap yarn. oh well, i’ll chalk it up to “skill.” I still can’t believe
that i have only been spinning for less than 2 weeks. 1 week ago i thought it
might be impossible, and now i can spin yarn that i would
use.

In other exciting news, my friend
cheryl at
purl, interrupted
has announced that her entry to to “Knit Lit 3″
book has been accepted and is going to be published. woo-hoo! i am so going to
pre-order that puppy as soon as i
can.

Speaking of ordering books, i got
severe scarf envy when i saw the two scarves that Trish has been working on. It
only took a few days for me to crack and order ‘The Little Box of Scarves.

Though
i have yet to see it in person, amazon tells me that each pattern is on a little
laminated card for portability. And Trish’s scarves are dang cute, so that is
all the motivation i need.

Finally the
Ribby Cardi. It is suffering from neglect. i think it is odd that i became
totally distracted not while working on the large back piece (which was
certainly the most boring) but rather once i have started on the sleeves (which
i think are pretty fun).

It is my first attempt at knitting 2
sleeves at one time. wait, who am i kidding, these are the only sleeves i have
ever knit. not to jinx myself, but i am pretty happy that i have managed to
keep the yarn for each sleeve separate and not accidentally connected the two
pieces. It is not the Ribby cardi’s fault that i stopped paying attention to
it, i have just been seriously distracted with spinning lately. i had to show
it who’s boss. I am ready to dedicate some time to getting this sweater
done.

oh yeah one more thing. My
sleeves are knit in coffee bean brown and it is really a beautiful color brown.
Go to elann
and buy some.
