Booty-aholic

Here is picture of the red baby booties i
finished while on vacation. They still need a ribbon, but they are
done.

There is a giant picture in my Finished Projects Gallery . The yarn is mission
falls cotton, and the pattern is from
Knitting for baby , and since
it is a published pattern, I don’t feel right about giving it out for free. If
you have a baby to knit for, get this book. it’s
good.

I have decided that I would not
recommend using this yarn for the booties. The pattern recommends Koigu, and it
would be much better. the cotton yarn is just too
thick.

Speaking of booties, i got my
50 baby bootees to knit book in the
mail. Despite the fact that I am currently halfway throught the hippie booties,
I could not resist trying one of the patterns. I got some Frog Tree
fingerweight 100% alpaca in a super-cute pink color to substitute for the double
stranded rowan kidsilk haze the pattern calls for and started knitting away. I
finished the sole and started the upper, but i still have no idea what it is
going to look like. Unlike the above pictured booties, these are not knit in
the round. It looks like i an knitting some crazy puzzle piece that will
magically become a tiny shoe.

i am
still excited about this book. there are really a lot of booties to try, and
most of them use very fine yarn and tiny needles, which is a bit of a challenge
for me. Last night I noticed that there is a pattern for little blue and white
striped booties with red trim. they are called
Pirate’s
boots
. okay… come on. how could they not
take this opportunity to call them Pirate’s
booties.
Except that this book would spell it Pirate’s bootees. You can see what my
visitors thought about the word “booty” here .
