The force was with me March 21, 2007
Look who I found in downtown Berkeley today!
Carmen gave me a tip on where it was so I decided to stop by on my way back from the post office. The best part about the sighting was that I was by far not the most excited to see one. Right after I snapped a crappy cameraphone picture, the mail truck pulled up. I was feeling a little sheepish until I turned around and saw that the mailman was snapping a photo himself! Man was he excited. He explained that it was his first pickup at that mailbox, and asked if I would snap his photo. and i did. One for him, one for me.
Doesn’t he look excited?

Groovin’ on the jedi love - this cracks me up! I hope we get one in my neighborhood.
Ohmigod, I can actually reach your blog to tell you how cool that mailbox is!! And what a fun exchange with the mail carrier.
Um, ok, that was beastly - your verification thingie is messed up. Sometimes it\’s apearing with the textured background, but no characters on it - ya just have to hit new ID over and over…
Why isn’t our postal guy as cool as that guy? We aren’t that far from there. I will never understand how this city gets split up.
That mailbox looks terrific! I’m hoping that there’ll be some up in Denver or Boulder, but nothing closer than there.
The letter carrier sounded really great. It’s nice to see them excited about the Star Wars boxes too.
I saw one of these when I went to Cleveland the other day! I was so excited, but my boyfriend did not seem to share my excitement (much to my confusion). I feel better knowing there are others out there who appreciate a R2D2 mailbox as much as myself!
Haha - these seem to be everywhere! Freaked me out when I first saw ours. I must wonder why (George Lucas owns the postal service now?)…
