Sewing stuff for babies November 21, 2005
the perfect excuse to try out some embroidery.
have a baby, don’t spoil the surprise and tell the baby about this. I took some
cute cotton fabric and backed it with flannel to make a baby blanket and a burp
cloth. Then I added a decorative zigzag topstitch. i amazed even myself by
washing (and preshrinking) the fabric first. I also tried my hand with a little
embroidered accent on each one.

the blanket has a little owl (pattern free from href="http://www.needlecrafter.com/"

library)

but hey! it is for baby vomit!

that the monkey (pattern purchased from href="http://www.sublimestitching.com" target="NewWindow">Sublime
Stitching) on the burp cloth looks a little maniacal. I think he is
mad because his digits are too big. If it is not allowed to go anywhere near
the baby to prevent a monkey-phobia, i understand.

including embroidery, took about 2 hours. Okay, plus the laundering but I am
sure that you wash clothes anyway. I will never come up with some
