A big pile of loot.

I went to Carolina
Homespun
and came home with tons of goodies!

This trip to the fiber store wasn’t just for me.
Megan bought a spinning wheel! She got a Walnut-stained Kromski Minstrel. But
do I have any pictures of it – no. i had my camera in my purse the whole
time…. i think that i was so overstimulated by all of the goodies, I didn’t
even think to take pictures (the same thing happened at Stitches West). I am
sure that I will have a photo of her in action
soon.

Here is a picture of my
haul:

Clockwise from the bottom left: First,
i got the fast flyer for my Lendrum spinning wheel. this should make spinning
fine fibers like angora and quivut less of an aerobic workout – I shouldn’t have
to pedal too fast to get a lot of twist. Next I got a set of Strauch hand cards
for wool. This is so we can start honing our carding skills for the Sheep-to-Shawl competition at Lambtown , I also
got a container of blue country classics dye, and a color card so I can order
more if I want. I got 1 lb of fiber and one last thing.. A spindle!!! Oh she is
soooo beautiful!

It is a Cascade
Spindle
and the model is Mt. St. Helens. How could I resist? I spun
a little in the car on the way home. It ruled. i have dreams of spinning
energized singles and knitting socks right off of the spindle…. It is a
ridiculous dream given the amount of sock yarn I now
own.

Speaking of sock yarn, I picked
this up at 40% at the Article Pract
sale.

I love that each skein of yarn comes with
heel and toe reinforcement thread in a matching color
pattern.

And finally, some knitting
progress.. the black and white striped socks will probably be done by the end of
the day!

Finally…. I am a big Dr.Pepper
fan. Recently in N. Calif a new flavor has been made available : Diet Cherry
Vanilla Dr. Pepper. While I am a big fan of pop, I hate diet. So that is why I
was so excited to find the non-diet version of Cherry-Vanilla Dr.Pepper while
traveling in Washington. The best part is that my friend from around here is
doing some field work in that area, so he is driving his truck around. He just
sent me this picture:

I think it is a twelve pack just for
me!
