Available in my etsy shop.

I discovered a few sets of cosmetically challenged stitch markers that I would like to get rid of. They are 100% usable and readable, they just have an irregular shape or gloss. They are still made with silver-plated findings.

Click through and choose “all sizes” to see a large version

I also took one with the flash so you can see the state of the gloss.

They are $6 each including shipping, or you can have all of them for $15 including shipping. What a deal! I will only accept payment via paypal (and I can process credit cards through paypal). If you want one/some email me (karrie at girlontherocks . com) and I will send you an invoice.

I participated in a swap of pink and brown items, some of which should be thrifted. I had and awesome swap partner, Jan. Look what I got!

Jan made me an apron that is sooo beautiful. she is a much better seamstress than I am! Other treats included a vintage basket making kit, pink yarn(!), buttons, ribbons, a mug and some fun miniature playing cards. I love all of it. Expect a better shot of me modelling the apron later.

I also completed a couple of swaps through Swap-bot. For the Cupcake swap, you had to send two cupcake related items to your partner. Mine went above and beyond!

Look at the cupcake-topped knitting needles that she made for me!!

Thanks Diane!

I also got some beautiful stitch markers in a ‘Unique stitch markers‘ swap.

I really enjoy the swap-bot style swaps. Unlike secret pal programs I have participated in in the past, these are for a one-time swap only. This i bebficial if you don’t like the person you are sending to/receiving from, or your partner flakes out on you. There is also an incredible variety of swap themes to choose from. Swap-bot maintains a rating system that attempts to filter out some more non-participatory members, and make it more pleasant for everyone. Yay swapbot!

If you want to try out swap-bot, there are many swaps set up for newbies… There is also an entire category for knitting swaps (check out Moirae’s Earth day Yarn Swap). I’ve already decided to try an organize my own swap!

I had a lot of yarn sitting around that I have been meaning to upload to my etsy shop, and today is the day. I sure hope it sells, because it is taking up a ton of room….

In addition to a bunch of sock yarn, I made a set of stitch markers that I think would be pretty handy for sock knitters. Recycling the text I used for the item description… Every time I finish I sock, I have to drag out a book or a computer to look up how to do the stinking toe graft. I am incapable of memorizing the kitchener stitch. So I have put it in a form that will stick with my socks – Stitch markers!

I usually have a few stitch markers involved in my sock knitting so I made 4 markers, each displaying brief instructions for the 4 steps of the kitchener stitch. Now I will have the directions on my sock by the time I get to the toe! The stitch marker holder has a tag reminding me of the set-up for the beginning of the graft, and now as long as i keep them in order I am set.

Courtesy of Flagrant Disregard, here is a mosaic of some of the items I added to my shop.

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and it has the best holiday color scheme, so it seemed appropriate to make some Halloween-inspired sock yarns. get them now and in the spirit of socktober fest you can have them done by the end of the month!
